Leaving Australia: Friday March 16th 2007

We are excited and basically ready to go. We have the wonderful Skye house sitting for us with husband Rob and daughters Star and Sophia. This family have become good friends over a few months and it's nice to leave this paradise in their care.

Who knows how it will be in Nepal. There is a fair bit of political stirring with an election in June and lots of historically unhappy campers vying for political power and influence, sometimes with strikes and violence. The manager of the children's homes where we are volunteering has resigned last week and a new manager is being sought, so we need to expect the unexpected and just see where and how we can fit in.

here now with our friends  in Sydney - glad to get away from home with lots of last minute things. first we walked around the propoerty then visited sally and woodchip  . we had a little "goodbye to the river and land" ceremony together then drove up here. we have some water from the river with  us and we will put a few drops of it into other rivers we visit on our travels, rivers can go overseas too. the car had a flat battery. we wish we were on the plane already. great pizza place for dinner. heard today that gas and electiricty are rationed in kathmandu so cold nights coming up.

Cheers,Mark.
