The Discovery Course is a deportment and elocution self-development course for girls aged between 13 and 18 years. It is run over a 6 week school term in the Milton/Ulladulla region.

Course content includes:

• Deportment - learning to walk, sit and stand correctly
• Image - skin care, hair styling, make-up, clothes (colour charts and style)
• Self - developing self confidence and self esteem
• Communication - learning to address a group and tips for public speaking
• hOnesty - learning to share feelings and develop trust in a group
• Vision - setting goals and developing techniques to achieve them
• Elocution - developing correct diction - learning how to speak correctly
• Role models - creating role models for local young women
• Yoga - keeping the body strong and energized through healthy eating and lifestyle

Handouts are provided on each topic and participants receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the Course. Course evaluations are completed by participants.

Course facilitator is Mary-Louise Parkinson. Mary-Louise grew up in a small town and attended Deportment School at age 15. Attending the School was a milestone in her life. She is aware of the low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence girls can develop growing up in a regional area. Mary-Louise is supported by co-facilitators qualified in Elocution and Styling.
