Mary-Louise Parkinson has been practicing yoga since the 1970's. She was first introduced to Yoga at school and has been practicing it ever since. She has practiced many different styles of yoga including Iyengar, Satyananda, Bikrams and Astanga. She has studied Yoga and Applied Anatomy with Yoga Synergy, gained teacher accreditation, including post graduate studies, with IYTA (International Yoga Teachers Association), and Dru Yoga (Life Foundation International). She is trained in, and practices as a Holistic Counsellor. In 2005 she wrote and published a book on Postal Natal Support for Mothers. Mary-Louise had a highly successful career in the computer industry for over 20 years, holding senior management roles with leading American computer and networking organisations. She also holds a Private Pilots License and has flown extensively around Australia as well as NZ and the USA.

Mary-Louise developed and ran her own yoga centre in Harbord, on Sydney's Northern Beaches prior to moving to the South Coast. She lives with her partner, Mark, and children, Sarah and Harry. They moved from Sydney's Northern Beaches in 2001 to the NSW South Coast to build their home and retreat centre amongst the Budawang Wilderness.
